About Concord
Concord , a city 20 miles northeast of Charlotte, is the county seat located near the center of Cabarrus County and a winner of the All-America City Award in 2004. It was established in order to bring concord to a dispute between two cities vying to become the county seat of the newly created Cabarrus county.
It is current home to Lowes Motor Speedway, a NASCAR research and development office and several professional race teams that include Hendrick Motorsports, Roush-Fenway Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing. Local attractions include concord motorsport park, lowes motor speedway, zMAX drag strip and Concord Mills, a very popular shopping district.
Concord also holds distinction as home to the historically black women’s school, Scotia Seminary, founded in 1867. It is now the coeducational school, Barber-Scotia College.
With its small town feel and big city amenities, Concord offers a fun place to live.
